America’s Unwitting Flirtation with Democracy
Hopefully, This Dalliance Is A Temporary Multi-generational Lapse of Oversight
My Observations
As a Babyboomer… I’ve observed our Country’s political meanderings over the past 3 generations… (approximately 50 years)… and —as of late— it’s bold and outright aggrandizement of the egoic, political notion of our country being a Democracy.
As a wordsmith… I understand the power of words… how they control our emotions and feelings. I completely understand that words matter… I have a keen ear for nuance, expression, and articulation. Consequently, I was struck by the sudden appearance of —and wholesale use of— the word “democracy” during the 2016 election cycle.
This word seemed to instantly appear… as if a new script producer took over the 2-Party Collaborative Alliance’s media mill… because it became the common “new” reference to describe our chaotic political landscape. Whether watching news programming or dedicated political programming, “democracy” was the new description of our conflicted governmental process.
I must admit, that as a long-time friend and advocate of our Constitutional processes,
I was shocked to hear of this gross misrepresentation of our carefully delineated system of established government.
Sadly, No Defenders
I was sure, that other respecters and upholders of our generation’s old process would rise up and correct such a gross misrepresentation… sadly I was mistaken. Media types, Educators, and Jurists… did not speak out about this gross misrepresentation, and a groundswell of political operatives joined the chorus.
It was a sad and sobering reminder —to me— of both generational impact and of the power of massive, repetitive, orchestrated media exposure … just keep repeating it… everywhere… constantly… and the outcome is predictable.
In short order, the broadcast media was soon parroting the word… then the print media. I was continually shocked at the way these bastions of liberty and truth in reporting —and thus language— silently capitulated to this perverse re-naming of our profound distinction… of our original and unique identification… as a citizen-owned Constitutional Republic.
Political Party’s Culpability
There was no attempt made to question, let alone correct this flagrant re-identification. When I started hearing it in both Congressional chambers, I began to realize that this was yet another way that the 2-Party Collaborative Alliance —through their elected placeholders— have contextually changed the narrative and thus the tenor and tone of what our government process looks like and how it acts.
Something to consider….
In doing so, those in their respective elected positions have overtly violated their Oaths of office…
a sad, dangerous, and culpable situation.
Fast forward to the 2024 election cycle, and the results of the acceptance and proliferation of this destructive representation style become apparent. We have a nation of poorly educated, memoryless Followers who now appear to believe that we are indeed a Democracy… and as an observer of human nature and social patterning… I have to agree with their assessment of their behavior.
This constant and relentless insistence that America is a Democracy has worked… it’s created the very thing that the founders worked diligently to warn us about, and avoid… we are indeed acting like a Democracy.
And what’s wrong with current generations acting like a Democracy?
The highlights include;
- Majority rule, so — minority exclusion…
- Factional superiority, so — no compromise or consensus building…
- Control through empire building, so — greatly expanded government and intense minority control…
- Increasing legislative control, so — citizens lose freedoms and rights.
Leader/Follower Filter
There is another glaring and unintended consequence to this recasting of America as a Democracy, which becomes evident when viewed through the Leader/Follower filter. The majority of any society are Followers… those who actualize the Leader’s visions. Without them, no society could function or would move forward.
Followers have a unique character trait that causes them to seek out Leaders and follow them. Followers, only question when their moral sense and safety is aroused or threatened. If they are treated fairly and honorably, they are content.
Foisting the idea of a Democracy on our population… which is naturally and predominately Followers… quickly puts them in the untenable position of having to be decision-makers… something they have no natural affinity for or desire to do. Reactions are predictable… and run the gamut from withdrawal to outright rejection. Followers, only focus is seeking Leaders who respect and value them.
The Founders —in their study of past civilizations and societies— gleaned and grasped the importance of this nuance… and formed their unique collaborative model around this most natural human interaction tendency. They perfectly understood why a Democracy wouldn’t work well with their generations or —for that matter— any generations.
Founders Quotes
Let me share some of the Founders’ research and wisdom on the subject, as they are much more direct in their opinions…
- “The experience of all former ages had shown that of all human governments, democracy was the most unstable, fluctuating and short-lived.” ~ John Quincy Adams
- “Democracies have been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their death.” ~ James Madison
- “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.” ~ John Marshall
- “It has been observed that a pure democracy if it were practicable would be the most perfect government. Experience has proved that no position is more false than this. The ancient democracies in which the people themselves deliberated never possessed one good feature of government. Their very character was tyranny; their figure deformity.” ~ Alexander Hamilton
- “Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.” ~ John Adams
- “When the representative body have lost the confidence of their constituents, when they have notoriously made sale of their most valuable rights, when they have assumed to themselves powers which the people never put into their hands, then indeed their continuing in office becomes dangerous to the state” ~ Thomas Jefferson
- “The issue today is the same as it has been throughout all history, whether man shall be allowed to govern himself or be ruled by a small elite.” ~ Thomas Jefferson
The following two quotes are from later generations… and I include them because they add equally lucid views on the topic.
- “Democracy is four wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.” ~ Ambrose Bierce
- “The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.” ~ Winston Churchill
The above quotes should give you ample evidence of why the Founders deplored and excluded any vestiges of a democratic process in our founding documents. I defy you to show me any mention of a democracy in our founding documents.
The management and governance of our society is something
that Americans SHOULD be actively aware of and involved in…
hopefully, these remarks and perspectives provide a sobering reference of our current path and choices.
2-Party Collaborative Alliance’s Covert Plan
So, why is there such a push toward this seemingly gruesome and destructive form of management now?
IMHO, it’s the last in a series of steps necessary to completely subjugate the rightful owners of the several States… a grand ploy to get them to unwittingly —and voluntarily— hand over complete control of their cherished rights, in exchange for the bauble of the day… whether it be safety… security… a monetary stipend… group inclusion… anything that seems momentarily important.
In light of this exposure to what the democratic process looks like…
can you see that everything that is happening in our country now is the direct product
and the result of this wholesale restructuring of our institutional processes?
The deep partisan divisions… the complete and destructive absence of the consensus process… the ploy of party polarizations… the glaring “majority rule” mentality… the vilifying of minorities… the perverse loss of rights through legal restructuring… all designed to further fracture and weaken your resolve, control, and grip over your choices, life, and our country.
Control vs Management
This is collusion on a grand scale… a congressional scale. These political operatives… acting in tandem… have —over several generations— manipulated ALL of the current adult generations into this progressive trap.
As a comprehensivist observer, I’ve watched with amazement how they’ve methodically either created or taken advantage of crises to further their agenda of reducing your choices and increasing their control.
In typical exponential fashion it was slow at first… but with the explosion of the electronic and media age… it rapidly accelerated… and played right into their hands… because this staggering increase in distractions was just what they needed to instigate and perfect these last bold steps… all done right in plain sight… while you weren’t paying attention… because you were distracted by all of the “electronic glitter baubles”.
All of this was/is designed to effectively take control of this country away from you.
And it appears that they did it… because if you ask the average American today… they will ignorantly and proudly tell you that America is a Democracy… although I sincerely doubt that they could articulate even one facet of what that means.
The adage, yet again, appears to be true…
“if you do NOT learn from your history…
you WILL repeat those same mistakes.”
Winston Churchill’s quote was right.
Enforcing Oaths
While it saddens me to see the wholesale capitulation of the general public and the media… the saddest and most disturbing aspect of all of this is the wholesale abdication and violations of our elected officials… who all took an oath to “uphold and defend the Constitution”… the very one that delineates and guarantees “a Republican form of government”.
It appears to me that many —if not most— have violated their Oaths and should be either removed or prosecuted for cause… as this is a flagrant and unconstitutional violation. (See Fence-Menders)
The reason I titled this article an “Unwitting Flirtation with Democracy” should now be obvious. Welcome to the consequences of your choices… knowingly or not.
Based on human history…
the Founders’ understanding of it…
and human nature…
it’s not going to take long, or be pretty…
IF WE CONTINUE ON THIS PATH…
because again IMHO…
we’re speeding past the vestiges of a Democracy and are rapidly heading toward an Oligarchy.
Current generations of Americans
have abdicated their Sovereign Responsibilities…
which has essentially suspended our Constitutional Republic.
They are unwittingly purporting to be a progressive Democracy…
while actually encouraging a functional oligarchy.
In closing… my questions and comments are…
FOR LEADERS
Are you capable and willing to relearn the genius that is our Constitutional Republic’s operating system…
and reestablishing it for our current and future generations of Americans?
Are you willing to learn about our world’s most unique experiment in human collaboration…
About the trust and moral balance that is required to sustain our Constitutional Republic?
FOR FOLLOWERS
Please Remember that America is only as good or as strong as its current generations….
That’s us, folks…
We’re all that’s left standing between the current path of failure…
Or choosing a return to the Founder’s path.
And aren’t you blessed?
Because the Founders made you an owner…
A Sovereign Owner whose individual choice is most important.
As a Sovereign Owner, your choice is your birthright…
It can never be taken from you.
Only you can choose what to do with it.
Please don’t squander your choice on partisan fears…
Learn about its value in consensus with moral Leaders…
And use it wisely for our collective, inclusive benefit.
