Mass Shootings…. Cause and Effect

A frank discussion that probes deeper into the Cause – Effect Relationship

Overview

All of the rhetoric surrounding the recent (and increasing) string of tragedies is focused on superficial and immediate issues… namely access to firearms and protecting groups being assaulted.  Maintaining our focus at this level – as recent history shows – is doing nothing to reduce, let alone stop this carnage.  IMHO, we need to look deeper to find the real cause that will affect real change.

The real cause will NOT be found packaged in a neat set of Mental Health Parameters, or Access Restriction Plans like metal-detectors or lockdowns… the real cause can only be found when we broaden our perspective and step back to take in several more fundamental aspects of life in America today.

Chronic Disease Analogy

I like analogies, and the one that comes to mind to help explain the phenomena that I see happening is cancer in the body.  I chose this controversial example because it points out similar problems that directly relate on both an individual and a national level.

First of all, there are several controversial points of view on cancer itself… on what causes it… and if it’s even curable.  The conventional western medical opinion is that they don’t really know what causes it and that it’s basically not curable.  To be clear, they’ve created methods to arrest it, but still don’t understand how to prevent it.  They’ve arrived at these conclusions after spending many years and staggering amounts of money studying this disease.

Now… please re-read that last sentence… does it seem logical?

Does it appear to be an intelligent assessment of the situation?  If you think so, you are in the majority, and are conditioned to that conclusion.

What????   OK… please let me explain myself by saying, ‘what you focus your attention on is where you will produce your results’.  In this case, the money and attention is focused on the disease.  You’re probably thinking… yeah…. So what??  What’s the point?

A Paradigm Shift is Necessary

My point is that if you focus all your attention on the Dis-ease, then you are not putting any energy toward Health, so you will never create a Cure, only more dis-ease.  Why?  Because you are taking a body that is disrupted and creating more disruption.

Creating a Cure, is essentially a paradigm shift… a radical change of perspective.

The following is an excerpt from Stephen Covey’s best seller The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People… it illustrates a paradigm shift very well.

The Principle-Centered Paradigm

The character ethic is based on the fundamental idea that there are principles that govern human effectiveness – natural laws in the human dimension that are just as real, just as unchanging and unarguably “there” as laws such as gravity are in the physical dimension.

An idea of the reality – and the impact – of these principles can be captured in another paradigm-shifting experience as told by Frank Kock in Proceedings, the magazine of the Naval Institute.

Two battleships assigned to the training squadron had been at sea on maneuvers
in heavy weather for several days. I was serving on the lead battleship and was on watch
on the bridge as night fell. The visibility was poor with patchy fog, so the captain
remained on the bridge keeping an eye on all activities.

Shortly after dark, the lookout on the wing of the bridge reported, “Light, bearing on the starboard bow.”

“Is it steady or moving astern?” the captain called out.

Lookout replied, “Steady, captain,” which meant we were on a dangerous collision course with that ship.

The captain then called to the signal man, “Signal that ship:
We are on a collision course, advise you change course 20 degrees.”

Back came a signal, “Advisable for you to change course 20 degrees.”

The captain said, “Send, I’m a captain, change course 20 degrees.”

“I’m a seaman second class,” came the reply. “You had better change course 20 degrees.”

By that time, the captain was furious. He spat out, “Send, I’m a battleship. Change course 20 degrees.”

Back came the flashing light, “I’m a lighthouse.”

We changed course.

…and that’s a paradigm shift in action.

Medical Paradigm Shift Needed

If the monstrous medical machine had a paradigm shift by focusing their attention on Health instead of Disease, they would start making strides toward a cure. If they looked at the body as an integrated mass of cells, grouped together at various levels, all with the express purpose of performing various functions in harmony and constant communication with each other… and then looked at how anomalies are caused, they would quickly recognize that cells that become isolated do not act normally… that they become disruptive and unresponsive, and act out and damage cells around them… that they become “cancerous”.  If the focus was on how the cell became unhealthy, and what it would take to return them to health, then they would answer the questions and solve the problem.

And what causes these anomalies?  Is it some drastic event?  Not normally… actually in a majority of the cases, it is a series of small, seemingly inconsequential events that become cumulative.  These events focus around cellular nutrition.  When cells are continually deprived of fundamental nutrition, their operating environment becomes toxic to the point where it is unresponsive.  They become isolated and have no choice but to resort to drastic measures to survive… and no amount of ‘slashing and burning’ (surgery and radiation) will change that… only a shift in nutrition and whole body support.  In other words, a return to overall healthy nutrition and normal cellular communication.

So, with that in mind… can you see the similarities between cancer cells and these troubled teens?  They are essentially isolated and toxic… and no amount of drugs or confinement will solve their real problem.

If we looked at our society, and the three generations that currently inhabit it, and look at what it takes to make it healthy and productive, we would be on the right track.  A healthy society would be supportive, encouraging and nurturing.  It would be interactive, inter-generational and interdependent.  It would encourage, provide and promote an environment that acknowledged our individual uniqueness and celebrated our common desire to live harmoniously with each other.

I believe that these teens are nutritionally deficient, to the point that they are disconnected from the normal healthy energy that is our American society.  And, this did not happen overnight… it wasn’t one bad meal that created this dis-ease… it’s virtually all of the food that they’ve come in contact with, and continue to come in contact with today.

The standard American diet (SAD) is just that… sad… in respects of how un-nutritious and toxic it is to any human body.  If you subject any human organism to such treatment, the results will be similar.  Do you remember the mad cow disease outbreak in the mid 1980’s?  Feeding animals other animals as a form of efficiency?  And we’re supposed to be the more evolved species?

Between the elimination of fat, the introduction of sugar, and the addition of chemical enhancers and preservatives, we have made food essentially unrecognizable to the human body from a nutritional standpoint… and our bodies… being the faithful vessel they are… are trying valiantly to adapt to these huge shifts.  Sadly, the evidence shows that it is outside of its “comfort zone”… that it cannot maintain basic physiological and cognitive function.

The sad and scary part is that it affects our youth the most… as evidenced by the exponential rise in diseases like Autism, Attention Deficit, Asthma, Allergies, Diabetes, Obesity, Major Depression, and Cancer.  Again, I believe these are all directly tied to and related to the continual assault on the human body with these toxic commodities that we unknowingly substitute for food today.

Correlation

The reason for the analogy is purposeful… because one is an extension of the other…

  • The body is made up of trillions of cells… the country is made up of millions of people.
  • If enough isolated and disruptive cells exist in the body, we become sick and demonstrate counterproductive traits… if enough isolated and disruptive people exist in the country, our country becomes fearful and demonstrates counterproductive traits.
  • Personal Health occurs when we focus on reconnecting the isolated cells and nourish them… National Health occurs when we focus on reconnecting the isolated people and nourish them.

The Solution

The solution should be obvious by now… to stop poisoning ourselves, and especially our young.  Start nourishing ourselves, and especially our young with dense, highly nutritional foods.

How?  I envision a multiple step approach…

Individually…

Reject the garbage that the food industry is selling by choosing to stop purchasing foods that are contaminated with preservatives and pesticides, and buying responsibly grown foods that actually does provide nutrition… please remember that the ONLY point of food is cellular nutrition… not comfort or a way to pass time!!

Collectively…

  • Demand government agencies that are charged with the responsibility to oversee corporations and protect us do their job properly and stop being a shield for unscrupulous business practices;
  • Hold company’s accountable for violating our public trust through deceitful business practices, companies who are producing products that provide little nutritional sustenance and lots of toxic additives and pesticides.
  • Create or support class action lawsuits against the major pesticide producers and distributors, whose products are destroying the very Eco-system that we rely on for our existence and ultimately our health.

Our Eco-system is as delicately balanced as we are… we are an extension of it… so it naturally follows that when we disrupt, it we disrupt ourselves.

Just like you cannot isolate cells in our human body without dire consequences, you cannot isolate human beings in our society without dire consequences… and that is the true cause and effect of this mass shooting epidemic specifically, and our various health epidemics generally.

If this resonates with you, please pass it on…

If you have questions, I’m only a click away… another gift of our present time…

I look forward to hearing from you!!

Thank you and Be Well
