The Secret Sauce That Makes America Work<\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n

Definition of Morality<\/span><\/h2>\n

In perusing the various definitions of the word Morality, I was struck by how the more modern versions use the word to define itself\u2026 as if they are avoiding its true origin and identification.\u00a0 The Webster 1828 dictionary is the only one I found that eludes to the true origin and meaning of the word.<\/p>\n

Morality<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

MORAL\u2019ITY, noun\u00a0\u00a0 The doctrine or system of moral duties, or the duties of men in their social character: ethics.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The system of morality to be gathered from the writings of ancient sages, falls very short of that delivered in the gospel.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

      The practice of the moral duties; virtue.\u00a0 We often admire the politeness of men whose morality we question.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      The quality of an action which renders it good; the conformity of an act to the divine law, or to the principles of rectitude (In morality, rightness of principle or practice).\u00a0 This conformity implies that the act must be performed by a free agent, and from a motive of obedience to the divine will.\u00a0 This is the strict theological and scriptural sense of morality\u2026BUT we often apply the word to actions which accord with justice and human laws, without reference to the motives from which they proceed.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n

      The last sentence defines our current plight.\u00a0 Our current society (4 active generations) has abandoned its moral roots and no longer associates or connects with the core energies that foster this most basic and necessary component for successful human organization, collaboration, and advancement.<\/p>\n

      \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Morality \u2013 My Comprehensivist View
      \n<\/span><\/h2>\n

      Looking back at ancient texts, it\u2019s obvious to me that the core topic then was the same as it is today\u2026 moral lessons on how and why people treat each other the way they do\u2026 and in my humble opinion (IMHO), our situation has not changed much \u2013if at all\u2013 from our early relatives\u2026 and why should it?\u00a0 After all, the driving forces are the same now as they were then\u2026 the infinite Spiritual\/God energy and our finite human energy either competing or collaborating\u2026 with each scenario having dramatically different outcomes.<\/p>\n

      Morality stems from our most basic uniqueness and oneness, <\/em><\/span>
      \nas we are all imbued with the \u2018breath of life\u2019\u2026 it is our commonality.\u00a0<\/em> <\/span><\/h6>\n<\/blockquote>\n

      It CAN BE a vibrant part of us…\u00a0 IF… we purposefully choose to incorporate this most powerful Spiritual\/God energy into our consciousness to balance our limited, finite intellectual processes\u2026 processes normally directed by our innate survival mechanisms, which are predicated on survival… and ultimately based in fear.<\/p>\n

      Simply put, morality is the infinite Spirit-God energy exuding Faith to overcome the limited minds\u2019 fears\u2026 thus creating a balance of these two energies, which we identify as an unexplainable sense of knowing calm\u2026 BUT only IF we choose and accept it.<\/p>\n

      \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Morality \u2013 The Innate Desire for Advancement <\/span><\/h2>\n

      Remember that none of us comes into this existence in a vacuum.\u00a0 We are all subject to \u2013and influenced by\u2013 many collective and continuing energies which ultimately manifest into an overall sense of morality.\u00a0 This happens through a series of faith or fear-driven choices\u2026 which when followed long enough, becomes the pattern of our lives.<\/p>\n

      Looking at the period since our inception as an independent nation \u2013a scant 230 years or 15 generations\u2013 we see a decided shift away from the founder\u2019s guiding moral precepts and patterns.\u00a0 A look at several prominent Founders\u2019 quotes shows their deeply held and common views regarding the subject of morality or virtue.<\/p>\n

      John Adams<\/strong> said, \u201cPublic virtue cannot exist in a Nation without private Virtue, and public Virtue is the only Foundation of Republics.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 He also said,\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cWe have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion.\u00a0 Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our constitution as a whale goes through a net.\u00a0 Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.\u00a0 It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

      George Washington<\/strong>\u00a0said: \u201cVirtue or morality is a necessary spring of popular government,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>and \u201cHuman rights can only be assured among a virtuous people.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

      Benjamin Franklin<\/strong>\u00a0said: \u201cOnly a virtuous people are capable of freedom.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

      James Madison<\/strong>\u00a0said: \u201cTo suppose that any form of government will secure liberty or happiness without any virtue in the people, is a chimerical [imaginary] idea.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

      Thomas Jefferson<\/strong>\u00a0wrote, \u201cNo government can continue good but under the control of the people; <\/em>and \u2026 their minds are to be informed by education, what is right and what wrong [sic]; to be encouraged in habits of virtue and to be deterred from those of vice\u2026 These are the inculcations necessary to render the people a sure basis for the structure and order of government.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

      Samuel Adams<\/strong>\u00a0said: \u201cNeither the wisest constitution, nor the wisest laws, will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt.\u00a0 He therefore is the truest friend of the liberty of his country who tries most to promote its virtue.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

      Patrick Henry<\/strong>\u00a0said: \u201cA vitiated [impure] state of morals, a corrupted public conscience, is incompatible with freedom.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

      While the word Morality is not in our Founding Documents,
      \nits inference is unquestionable.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
